ernestdefoe Oh I certainly wouldn't compare apples with oranges. I'd assume just like with rugby, football no doubt requires a high degree of both physical and mental toughness balanced with technical proficiency, as well as team cohesion and coordination—on the fly.
In rugby, whether Rugby Union or Rugby League, there's generally two main types of players. The 'Forwards' and the 'Backs', with the former typically comprised of the more physically imposing individuals, who tend to be much more physically involved throughout the duration of an engagement. While the 'Backs' are typically comprised of the more agile individuals, generally quicker on their feet than the 'Forwards'.
Here's an illustration to provide a basic example:
Back in the day, (during school years) I was slightly below average in terms of physical build, yet highly agile and ideally suited for winger positions (left or right). Always found it quite easy to basically run circles around the opposition's 'Forwards', only ever got hammered by the big boys on a few occasions. Usually my priority was dealing with either getting past/or stopping the opposition's 'Backs'. 😄 Haven't actually thought about it in a long time, but gott damn I used to love playing any chance I could.
